Yoga Journal: Posing live from Estes Park
A quick test to start off the week, here at Pluck's RSS Feed of the day. Describe and perform the following:
Mountain pose
Lotus posture
Corpse pose
Tree pose
Wheel posture
Next, grade your test, with 10 points for correctly describing each pose/posture and 10 additional points for correctly performing each pose. Subtract 10 points if you get stuck in one of the more advanced poses, like the Scorpion pose shown here.*
How did you do on the test? If you scored anywhere around and north of 50 points, then you'll definitely be interested in the Yoga Journal, our selection for Feed of the Day. They're blogging the 10th Annual Yoga Journal Conference held in Estes Park, Colorado. The conference runs from September 30 - October 2, with seven sessions covering various aspects of Yoga - you can get more details or register here. Of particular note is the conference honoring B.K.S. Iyengar, who Yoga Journal describes as a man whose work has defined and introduced yoga in the West, his presence could not be a more perfect addition to this event.
Coverage has already kicked off - mostly preparatory stuff - and later stuff will include:
photoblogs -consider them dares to try new poses?
videoblogs - see Yoga done right!
numerous contributing Yoga bloggers (yoggers?)
interview with Yoga teachers, including Rodney Yee and Sean Corme
And exclusive footage of an interview with B.K.S. lyengar himself.
Considering how tweaked my back feels at the moment, I could certainly benefit from Yoga (as my wife keeps reminding me). I may be willing to give it a shot, especially if I can learn how to do this (click for larger image).**
