The Movie Blog. Reasons not to cry for Hollywood. Plus a Google movie trick.
In case you missed the never-ending whining by Hollywood that box-office receipts are down, the summer movie season has been really bad (again), and generally complaining that too many people are playing World of Warcraft (accompanied by the infamous Leroy Jenkins battle cry) instead of going to the theaters and overpaying for tickets, popcorn, and generally suffering through crappy scripts and Kevin Costner-length movies (like this sentence) . . . we won't really talk about those things here. But just know that Hollywood is whiny about not selling enough tickets after paying millions to make more "must see" movies.
If you actually made it through that run-on sentence, you deserve a reward.
Of course, today's Feed of the Day - The Movie Blog - is a reward of its own with opinions, reviews, comments, and other stuff about what's playing at the big and not-so-big screen. Since the three "regular contributors" (John Campea, Doug Nagy, and Richard Brunton) love writing about movies, their blog might just be a nice lifehack to save you the time and trouble of another Waterworld debacle (it really was a dumb movie, you know). Oh, the gem at the left is from an image search on Waterworld and has no relation to the movie, except other than looking really fake, the bully has the type of dorky helmet clearly essential to survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Whatever.
One quick excerpt from a recent post:
How to Use Google Movies for Reviews and Show Times
Not
only am I a "Movie Dork", but I'm also a "Computer Dork" -which makes
it difficult picking up women at times- and I wanted to bring Google's
movie tag to your attention. This may be old hat for some of you but
it's still a fairly new feature to the Google search and I find it very useful.
When doing a Google search on a movie title, place the following tag before it (movie:). For example, if you want to read the reviews for Superman, then you would type in (movie: Superman). This will return all of the reviews for Superman collected by the Google index, the star rating and a total average rating bases on the results.
Google movies can also search for show times within your area . . .
